How to create a bathtub enclosure for your own home
- by admin
A friend asked me how I made the bathtub, and I thought, “This would be fun!”
I love the concept of a bath tub, but I never thought I would be able to do it.
I never had the idea of making a bath with a tub and a sink and a tub filled with water.
I had never seen a tub like this, and so, I made it.
My goal with this project was to design a tub with a sink, a bath, and a bath curtain that would hold everything together.
I wanted to make it look like a normal bathtub and not something that was just going to sit there and float on the water.
I made the tub and curtain out of plywood and foamcore and used 1/2″ x 1/4″ plywood, which was very simple and cost-effective for me to build.
I was also able to use foamcore, which is super strong and sturdy.
I also used a piece of ply that was 1/8″ x 3/4″.
I used a 4″x12″ piece of 3/8-inch plywood that I cut to length and screwed onto the bath curtain.
This piece was about 6 feet long, so the curtain had to be 6 feet tall.
I cut a piece that was the length of the curtain and the length that the bath would be.
I used the same type of ply and foam core I used to make the bath, but the length was just a little longer and thicker.
I made these parts out of 1/6″ ply, 1/16″ ply and 3/16-inch foamcore.
I glued the bath and curtain together and then I sanded them down a little bit to give them a little more of a finish.
I did not have the exact dimensions of the bath.
The curtain was about an inch thick.
The tub was about the same size.
I put about 1/3″ ply on each side of the top of the tub.
I took this as my reference for the size of the bottom.
I thought that was enough, but then I looked at the bottom and it looked a little bigger than it actually was.
I decided to add a little extra foamcore on top of that and then sand the ply down a bit.
The bath was about 1 foot long, but it would fit a little better if it were a little shorter.
I tried to fit the bath in between two pieces of ply, but there was a gap.
I then made a 3/64″ square with 1/32″ ply.
I taped it to the wall with electrical tape and made sure that the piece of foamcore would be perpendicular to the ply.
My project ended up costing me about $40 and it was a fun project to make.
It is a good idea to take the measurements of the inside of the house, so that you can plan where you will build the bath after you have finished.
I would love to see how this project turned out for you!
